This Cookie Policy explains how Goodspeed LLC ("Goodspeed") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit goodspeed.app. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites remember your preferences and understand how you interact with the site.
Not everything a site stores is a cookie. Your theme choice (dark or light) is kept in your browser's local storage and is never sent to us, so it is not listed below.
2. Types of Cookies We Use
Essential cookies
Required for the website to function. These cannot be disabled. They handle authentication sessions, security tokens, and basic site functionality.
- sb-*: Supabase authentication session. Keeps you signed in.
- gs_consent: Your cookie-consent choice, "accepted" or "rejected". This is the cookie that records the decision you make in the banner.
- gs-consent-version: Which version of the Terms and Privacy Policy you accepted, so we can tell you when they change.
- gs_app_share, gs_app_grant, gs_preview_app, gs_preview_grant: Short-lived tokens that let you open a shared app preview you were sent a link to.
- __Host-gs_gh_oauth_state, __Host-gs_gh_oauth_return: Single-use tokens that protect the GitHub sign-in handoff and return you to the page you started from.
- gs-impersonating, gs-impersonate-*: Present only while a Goodspeed support engineer is assisting with your account at your request, and cleared when that session ends.
Attribution cookies
Record where a visit came from so we can credit the source of a later signup. They hold an opaque identifier, are readable only by our own servers, and are never shared with an advertising network.
- gs_session: Issued when you arrive on a "Built with Goodspeed" badge link, to attribute the referral to the app that sent you.
- gs_acq: Issued when you arrive from one of our own emails, to attribute a later signup to that email.
- Rewardful referral cookie: Set by Rewardful's script when you arrive through an affiliate link, so the affiliate is credited if you later subscribe. This one loads only after you accept cookies in the banner. See Subprocessors.
Analytics cookies
Help us understand how visitors interact with the website. These are only set if you accept cookies in the banner.
- PostHog (ph_* cookies): Product usage analytics, page views, and feature usage.
- Vercel Analytics: Aggregate page performance and traffic measurement.
3. Third-Party Cookies
Some third-party services we use may set their own cookies:
- Stripe: Payment processing and fraud prevention, on the checkout and billing pages.
- Vercel: Hosting and performance analytics.
- Rewardful: Affiliate referral attribution, after you accept cookies.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies, cross-context behavioral advertising, or retargeting pixels.
4. Managing Cookies
When you first visit goodspeed.app, you will see a cookie-consent banner with two options:
- Accept all: Enables all cookies, including analytics and affiliate attribution.
- Reject all: Only essential cookies are set. Analytics and the affiliate script do not load.
You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking essential cookies may prevent the website from functioning properly.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as an opt-out of any sale or sharing of personal information, consistent with our Privacy Policy. We do not sell or share personal information for behavioral advertising. GPC does not by itself switch off the analytics cookies above; to decline those, choose "Reject all" in the banner or block cookies in your browser.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
